Was looking on ebay yesterday and seen a sumer sheet which seemed cheap. Placed a bid on it and i have just noticed for a summer sheet they are charging £12 for postage. I have sent an email to remove my bid but where do i stand if the seller wont remove it?

report it to ebay that the postage price is way too expensive , maybe give them examples of other similar summer sheets for sale .
and request that your bid is removed by the vendor or ebay

erm, if you win, you have to pay up, or risk a non-paying bidder strike, and negative feedback.
They have no way of physically making you pay, but it can spoil your feedback if you don't.
When you add the cost of the postage onto the cost of the rug, have you still got a good deal? a lot of ebay sellers sell at low prices and increased postage costs to avoid ebay fees. (not condoning that in case anyone thinks I am!)

Ebay have maximum limits set for UK postage. Remove your bid anyway if there is more than 12 hours to go. And report the item number to Ebay if you know the cost is excessive, they will contact the seller for you. Also look if they are sending it courier - some list it as courier as an excuse to charge higher shipping but the good probably arrive 2nd class parcelpost. Remember though postage charges have rocketed and I sent a couple of minor items out to a friend expecting to pay about £5 postage and it was a whopping £10.75 2nd class.

i sold a reflective cover on ebay was 6'9 and my postage cost including buying packaging 1st class signed for was ..........let me check!

£5.90 so how they get £12 is beyond me! try the online help ebay do explain its no way £12 P&P

Im trying to find how they justify this but can only find one for shoes and clothes. Its 6"6 and obv on very thin and light. There's 6 hours to go so ant remove my bid but i really dont think ill e paying for a second had rug if the postage is this high. Its ridiculous. I think id rather get the negative feedback

Firstly, retract your bid yourself if within 12 hours of bidding finishing.

If not, then explain to the seller that you do not want to go through with the purchase, unless they reduce the postage costs. Don't forget it is Postage and PACKING.

Personally I don't care what the seller wants to charge for P&P I always look at the combined price and make my decisions based on that. The only reason Ebay pushes for 'reasonable' P&P is to keep their income up (because P&P is not included in the final value fees for the seller).

Also, don't worry about your feedback, Sellers can no longer leave negative feedback on buyers - if they leave a 'positive' with negative comments then Ebay will remove it for you.

Give the seller a break, they are probably just trying to make a living and will no doubt happily cancel the sale to avoid any negative feedback from you.

Sorry if this sounds harsh... but the p&p was on the listing.. and yes you do have to consider
your max bid based on both the postage and the item value...

I totally understand it was on the listing i just dont rmember seeing it as that high
Just browsing through now and others, same size, same make are onyl around 5.95 for postage more than half what they want for the one iv bid on!!

Hubs always drills into me about ebay that "it's not the cost of the item, it's the postage that counts " - as in I always go for cheapies, get carried away, and spend the win price again on postage. Urrrrrrrrgh, wish I had never discovered ebay :D sm x
