I've got a beautiful brand new 6ft thermatex rug that I am going to ebay. Easy so far! Normally I start everything at 99p and it finds its level.

But I stored the rug in a wardrobe and (unbeknown to me) my cat has nested on it  . Its perfect, complete with labels, but if you look at it in a good light it has a slight shadow on the bit where naughty cat has sat. My guess is it will wash out completely.

Obviously I'm going to say it has this shadow (not a stain), and why, but what worries me it might sound like its in poor condition and it isnt.

So if I started it at 99p it might go for next to nothing....

What would you do? The shadow doesnt show in the photo's as its so faint so I cant illustrate it...help!

Put up the photos so that people can see it's brand new with all its tags and include ones of it spread out so they can see the whole of the outside and the whole of the inside. Then explain what you've put above - and repeat in BIG RED LETTERS

Or if that's too much hassle I'll give you a fiver for it *insert wicked smiley*

I don't think you have to worry about not getting a reasonable amount. As long as you explain what you've said here most people will just ignore it.

I'll give you a tenner. Final offer :D

Oh a Thermatex drool drool :D

Have you tried cellotape lightly to get cat hairs out?

I am sure if you put what you have said above on your ad it will sell well.

It's such a fab rug I have watched a few hoping for a bargain but they always rocket especially a 6ft which is such a useful size.

I am sure you will be fine. Obv auction to end of an evening or weekend gives you a better final price.

Happy Ebaying :D

I'm out then! :( I don't even have anything which takes a 6' anyway :D

Er nor do I - but you need to buy a size smaller in the old Thermatexes because of the way they drape - or if it's a narrow beastie two sizes down!

I really want a burgundy one.

£30!

Yer, but BH is a 6'9'' and hardly narrow (as you're aware!) :D They're just so lovely though that I could just look at one and stroke it :D :D

Now that is the sort of crazy thing I would do :D or use it as a sofa blanket lol :D

But I do have a mare who takes a 6ft - off to trawl ebay for a bargain lol

As for colour who cares it's a thermatex ;)

:D ha ha

Right thats sorted, I'll just try to describe it and see what happens.

The cat hairs have been removed its just a kind of 'now you see it, now you dont' kind of shadow where the naughty little thing curled up. Its a T2000 in pale blue. Just dont have a horse that raises a sweat these days :o

Thanks for the advice :)

Good job it isn't Nitty sized or I'd be after it! She'd look great in pale blue. Never mind that I've only ridden her 10 times and now she is broken again and most definitely has no need for it!

They are lovely rugs. I just wish they were slightly more in my price range :(

Ooh, if you go down one then that's the right size for Charlie... who would look VERY good in pale blue... :o

Have you listed it yet?

If it was me, I would wash it. It will still get a very good price - sold one recently that was only worn a handful of times, washed and it was immaculate - sold for £85 +postage.

Just be honest about it and it should fetch a good amount. I recently sold an old thermatex which had several snags and holes (largest about the size of two 10p pieces) and I got £45 for it. I photographed every single snag and hole as well as showed the whole thing. I think if buyers can see everything they tend to bid well.

Yes finally got it listed, what a nightmare. Got all the way through and then ebay decided I needed to verify my paypal account (which is verified  ). When I went off to do that ebay lost all my listing!

Anyway its on. Hope it sells OK, I think I've made it sound worse than it is, but I just dont want anyone to feel they have been short changed

Ooo, it's so nice. Thank god it wouldn't fit either of mine!

That mark is so tiny that I can hardly see it OP. I don't think you'll have much problem selling that! :)
