Does anyone feed it? There is a cough going round the yard. Daisy has had the vet out and had a course of antibiotics. She is almost completely better and the vet is happy with her but still has the occassional cough. A friend recommended a short course of ecchinacea so I thought I'd try some. Does it work?
 
Not sure about in horses but my mum swears by it!
Did your vet say how much to give? tempted to give some to my horsey as she's got some sarcoids and will be trying some thuja ointment so thought about using this in course with it
 
D&H do a very high quality tub of echinacea. My mare who has significant liver damage due to her previous ignorant owner leaving her to starve in a ragwort infested square has it daily to boost her immune system as even a titchy little virus could finish the tiny % of working liver she has left, off. My 21 year old Section D also has a small daily dose through the winter. He had to have an eye removed almost 3 years ago and his remaining eye is also prone to conjunctivitis. I discussed with my vet giving him a tiny regular preventative dose of steroids but that could produce laminitis so instead, he has echinacea to boost his immune system. He also started a niggly cough a week or so ago but it was gone in a few days. So dunno if echinacea works or not but I'm happy with it! Good luck.
 
I would go for "Emmune' or whatver it's called from Equine America - comes in a 30/40 day supply in liquid form. I've found it better than pure echinacea to be honest. It cleared up my girl's sarcoid so well that I can't even see where it used to be. I give her a dose when everyone has the snivels and it seems to do the job pretty well.

lol,the hilton herbs equimmune(sp,lol)near as damn it cleared my lads sarcoids,just ran out of funds for it

Have used it in past with good results.I just buy tabs from chemist (local one used to do homeopathicy things) put so much in feed.Can't remember what dosage but it appearred to work on 17hh clydesdale x.
If they got cut used to throw in some arnica as well.
