Has anyone used this and what for? I am thinking about using this for my mare as she has a discharge. She is on Respirator boost but I feel she needs a pick me up as well.

Your thoughts please on Echinacea. My friend rates it.

Herbal immune stimulant supplement - used quite a lot in humans for quicker recovery from colds and 'flu etc - I used it on myself with vit C to try to ward off everybody else's cold - didn't get one !

Very little recognised work on efficacy of herbal supplements in horses other than anecdotal

I use it when there are winter colds goinng round, and it really works. Taken at the first sign of a cold it stops it developing, at least that's what I've found.

I have used the Equine version a few times during the winter when there have been snotty viruses going round, and my horse has stayed well or shaken off the sniffles, so I think it works.

You shouldn't take it all the time, or in the case of a horse, you shouldn't feed it continually. The product will say on the packaging about taking a break at intervals to allow the body's own immune response to keep in practice.

My boy has siusitus that has not cleared up fully with surgery. Beofre the surgery he was on 10 tablets (from Tesco) per day, which did keep a lid on it, although you are not supposed to give it for more than a few weeks at a time. Now he has had the op and is left with a slight problem he is on propel plus from Equine America and it really seems to have made a difference. It has the echinacea as well as other respiratory boosting stuff, and you can feed it full time.
