eco comfy bed

Just brought a few bales of comfy bed. My friend has just put her mare on it as she is so so dirty she was taking almost a full barrow per day and half a bale per night of straw back in. She had a few days on it, friend had rubber matting, then a few bags of comfy bed and half a bale of shavings on top which mixed and she is so much cleaner. So went and bought some - its on 4 bales get 1 free at the moment so got them for about 25 or so quid!!

My horse is coming home next week so will bed it down, but wasnt sure if I wanted to put straw on top, shavings or nothing... friend found using the shavings helped to soak eveything up and the smell of amonia has gone!!

How oftenpdo you much comfy bed out?
 
Do you mean the eco bed as in the cardboard? If so I have used it for a couple of years and love it. I don't use anything else with it ( matts underneath ) I take out about two fork fulls a day its so absorbant. I put in half a bale a week, but I did put down 6 to start the bed off. I find Ben lies down much more as it seems very warm and cosy :)
 
I just dug out 2 boxes yesterday that have had comfybed down since last Sept.
Managed well such as levelling weekly & making sure there is a good dry cover on the top, even for grubby oiks, its prob the best bedding I've used :)
I skip out daily, & level bed over & then take out any 'risen' wet at a weekend (usually no more than a couple of shovels full).

Unfortunately, tho people keep mentioning this 'offer of 5 for price of 4' etc, my local distributors are not doing it :(
 
I think the Comfybed is absorbant enough without anything else. I gave up on shavings because my messy pony just kicks them around and makes a terrible mess. Comfybed is much better for him but I do go right through it every day as he is just too messy to deep litter.

Hi no its the wood chip type bedding. Brought 5 and hopefully will still be on offer on payday as ill go stock up - my friend put half a bale of shavings on so might try without and then with to see which works best. Only seen it at my local saddlery/feed barn in kent the last couple of days
