How do you rate it compared to other wood chip bedding? I noticed that the bags have 5kg more in them than others like Easibed. Does that make a difference? How many bales do you use per week?

My mare used to be on wood pellets but soaking the bags was a bit annoying.

I hated Eco comfy bed. I went from a bale of soft chip a week to a bale of comfy bed every 2 days and that was with a clean horse.

I prefer comfy bed because its heavy and my horse is a box walker. Thing the laysoft is good value but will stick with what works for us. A bale a week but need to start with a good bed.

I went from Snowflake shavings to Comfybed 3 years ago & love it.
Changed due to costs & what suited the Fuzzies I had at that point.

Easier to handle for anything that likes to trash a bed as it 'sits' better.
You DO need to put down a good deep bed to start with tho (which is where many go wrong).

Currently used for FLF who is THE grubbiest mare I've had the pleasure of stabling over winter, am using 1 bag about once a week; she is stabled overnight from 5.30pm till either 6am or 7.30

Its a good bedding for those who like to semi-deep litter during the week, or to deep litter overwinter :)

I have a whole yard on Laysoft and really rate it, it makes a good, firm bed, is absorbent and super easy to muck out. We deep litter/semi deep litter, depending on time of year and use on average 1 bag a week to top up, some messy horses get 2 bags a week, but I do like the beds to look WHITE.
I also use it for the broodies as a base under barley straw.

I bought a pallet of Lay-soft a couple of years ago. Firstly, I was surprised how dusty it was, I mean really dusty. I kept finding metal debris in it, the last straw was when I found a complete 1.5" nail in it (it's made from chopped up pallets) they took it back without a fuss, but I really would never be happy to use this type of bedding again.

I've tried Lay-soft (not able to get Comfybed up here) and I didn't find the extra £2.50 for basically 5kg extra was good value. Easibed so far for me has been the best and most economical.

I have tried countrywide (very, very dusty because it has mdf in), a localish guy that was cheap and would be fine for most I am sure, was again too dusty for nugz and is back breaking to muckout as fibrous. I am now about to try cushionbed so hoping that works out!

I use laysoft. Have never used easibed so can't compare.

I quite like it other than it's quite costly compared to straw.

It can be easy to muck out depending on how long your horse has been in his stable. For example at 6am in the morning it takes about ten minutes (if that) because his lordship hasn't had chance to trample it.

It doesn't smell and I don't find it dusty.

I semi deep litter.

I am using about two to three bales at the moment because I haven't be able to turnout due to the mud being really bad and him having mud rash.

When he can go out again ( very soon hopefully) I expect to use between one to two bales. Probably nearer to one.

I have also noticed that compared to straw, there is a lot less waste.

Another vote for Eco ComfyBed here! I have always found it to be good quality and much better value than Easibed. I especially like it for my box walkers as because its that little bit heavier than shavings they can't turn their beds to mush by the end of the night so I don't get through so much and they don't end up lying in their own filth as much.
To be fair though I don't think that there is one type of bedding out there that suits everyone though!

I love Eco comfy bed - I have quite a large stable and cleanish 16 hh cob and use 2 bales a week, most probably could get away with 1 but I like a thick bed with banks (no rubber matting) - it takes minutes to muck out either by deep litter or lifting completely - I tried deep litter which is fine but I have found lifting it each day is easier and keeps the bed cleaner (no hidden poo's) - am a bit ocd on the "poo bits".. would thoroughly recommend.

I use comfy-bed, but mix it with Miscanthus. I think it is an excellent bedding - absorbent and very easy to skip out - doesn't stick to poo so you waste less. However, although the bags are slightly heavier than other types of bedding (25 kg) they actually have less in them.

I semi-deep litter (just skip out and take out the top of the wet when necessary) so I use comfy bed when I have taken out some wet and miscanthus on the top. 1 bag of each a week. Works well for me.

I've recently switched from Easibed to Comfybed (larger bales for less money!) I mix it in with wood pellets so use a bag every couple of weeks. I find it helps the bed to stay a bit more stable and firm.
