My daughter's pony is on the ecobed (like small squares of cardboard). He is not a very dirty pony, tends to wee in one area but poohs all round the stable and the ecobed is fab. It keeps the wet to one area so it doesn't spread all over the whole bed, it's lightweight and dust free, the bags are easy to store and he lies down most nights so it must be comfy enough. I'm a convert
ecobed is excellent, i have used it for years. am trying woodpellets at the moment as i have 1 very very wet messy mare who was needing loads of bales of ecobed, but i think i'll go back to it soon. no dust at all, warm, comfy, easy to muck out. i always use it over rubber mats though, if it was on top of concrete i think you'd need plenty and let the base stay a bit damp to hold it together so it didn't move and expose the concrete. my other 2 mares used 2 bales of ecobed a week each, when out about 4 hrs a day (all i can manage through winter in allweather turnout), so it works for normal horses, just not utterly disgusting ones!
I use ecobale. The product is the same but ecobale bags come sealed and are much better. I had trouble with ecobeds bags because they are only taped up.Ecobale is also cheaper which helps and more readily available all year round.either way cardboard is deffinately the future for me !
