Seen someone is selling an adjustable saddle under the brand name ecorider. Never heard of it but seems affordable enough and to be good quality for the price, so I want to know if anyone has any experience with or opinions on these saddles? Comfortable? Ease of changing gullet? Types of horse it suits/doesn’t suit?

Would only get it as I have a good few adjustable ones on hand for horses that may come in for schooling / backing and I like to have a variety available to suit lots of shapes. Thanks !

I used one for 3yrs. I am selling it but might not be the one you’ve seen so I’ll just say what I think.

Generally pretty comfortable, have had multiple people also tell me it was comfortable when they rode in it. Gullets reasonably easy to change, but can be hard to source if you don’t have a saddle fitter that stocks them (I bought a load from my fitter before I moved).

Fits similarly to a bates saddle (I had an EcoRider jump and bates dressage on the same horse).

I think it suits horses with slightly more prominent withers than your wide ponies with no wither (though I’ve also seen one fitted to a Welsh D type, so maybe I’m wrong). I think my saddle fitter said it’s a keyhole shaped head plate? I know it fitted mine at a variety of different weights/stages of muscling, and that he always went well in it even when the fit wasn’t ideal.

Interesting! Didn’t think looking at it that it suited a more prominent wither but that’s great as I find I don’t often have enough saddles to suit that type, (as well as the wider ones as well, will have to source another for them!!) so it’s good to have something that fits the more awkward shapes in the tack room. Thanks !
