Ed and I have had a busy but fun few weeks!
We went to the RoR South East camp at Hickstead which was fantastic! We stayed for 3 nights and learnt so much.
When we arrived Ed went straight on the weighbridge and we had a chat with Dengie and Saracen who were so helpful as I'm struggling to put weight on Ed at the moment. Thy were really supportive and had some good suggestions.
After Ed was settled into his stable I went off to watch a course building demo which was really interesting. We also went through setting up polework exercises to do at home.
Our first ridden session was a Horsemanship lesson which I was sceptical about to begin with but was super useful! Worked on one-rein stops and keeping Ed calm when something scares him. We had a tractor pulling a harrow along gravel outside the arena during th session which was useful for real-life practice!
Onto flatwork and Ed was quite wound up as he found staying away from home a bit stressful. Worked on settling him down and getting him forward and had some nice work in the end!
Final lesson was polework/jumping and we had an absolute blast! I haven't done much jumping as my last horse didn't really enjoy it so Ed and I are really learning together. Now he's worked out he needs to actually jump the jumps rather than walk through them, he's decided he can't possibly touch a pole!

If anyone is thinking of taking part in RoR activies I really recommend it! Everyone is so friendly and supportive and it's lots of fun!!
