But did Edward actually hit the dog with the stick? Or did he threaten to - if he didn't actually hit the dog, I can't see he has done anything wrong.
It is a very biased piece of writing about shooting. It implies it is a cruel sport - not as cruel as keeping a budgie in a cage in my opinion.
This bit made me laugh:
[ QUOTE ]
Edward outraged animal rights campaigners in December 2005 when he battered to death an injured pigeon which had been shot during a pheasant shoot at Sandringham
[/ QUOTE ]
What, was he supposed to letting it die a slow, lingering death? The swine!
As did this:
[ QUOTE ]
Eight years ago the Queen was also accused of cruelty after she was photographed wringing the neck of a pheasant at Sandringham
[/ QUOTE ]
My god, you mean she didn't just buy her meat pre-killed and wrapped in plastic, she has the mind and ability to at least do the deed herself? The savage!
I like the fact that it doesn't actually say he hit the dogs. They were fighting and he seperated them without risking harm to himself and prevented them from harming each other - would he have been better to leave them bite each other? I hate The Daily Mail so much, it's an affront to the English language.
Oooh well said mulledvino - couldn't have said it better myself.
As I have just eaten a gorgeous creamed pheasant casserole cooked with pheasants my husband shot last week.
Can't beat proper grub!
agreed.but i have to love the Mail. it is so deliciously biased. what would they have said if he tried to separate them with his bare hands? called him a hero in the war against dangerous dogs as he went off to have his fingers sewn back on?
But can he justify chasing a scared dog with a 4ft stick? once or twice.. fair enough, the dogs need to learn, but he persisted and let his anger(?) get the better of him?
If he he had merely chased them off the pheasant and each other the once, they would probably have gone straight back to it! Chasing them away further allowed him to take control of the situation. Even labradors hurt if they bite you, or each other, torn ears are the devil to treat!
Why do people thinks its more acceptable to buy & eat factory farmed meat and cruel to shoot and eat animals that have had a life of freedom?
The shoot came through our field this year and we were given two delicious pheasants to eat. Much better than battery reared chicken or turkey thats never seen the light of day and is wrapped in clingfilm.
The fluffy bunny brigade are nothing but ignorant hypocrites. I suspect that the prince didn't even hit the dogs but just chased them away with the stick so that he could get to the bird before it was wasted. I spent £1.50 on the mail yesterday and didn't even open it - I had run out of paper to start the fire, so on it went!
