Hi everyone!
We'll, it's been 18 months since my last ride since having my baby girl and I am bursting to bite the bullet. So tomorrow I'm booked into an adult taking back the reins course and I am so excited but nervous, cackle...I have my own horse but as I'm soo nervous I thought I'd go back to basics on something steady, although my lad is steady he's had a lot of time off and if he bucks I don't know if I'd handle it emotionally...anyhoo! I had to share this....any tips? Comments...anything?! I've dusted off my hat and boots, and think I might cry with emotion tomorrow...I will try not to though, but horses do that to me, lol...ask my gelding with the wet shoulder, lol. Hope you're all good anyhoo.xxx

Hope it goes brilliantly for you!
I have a 7 month old now and feel fine.
Think it does you good to have a bit of your own time (with horsey that is!):)

Have a fab time!I'm sure it will all go smoothly and there'll be no stopping you leaping back into your own saddle in no time:D

Have fun :)
My first ride after having my little girl was incredible and then my first hack on my own, then first hack on my own including trot...
Gonna try canter next time ;)
I should add I did break my back a few years ago so I'm a right wus!
Don't over analyse, just enjoy it and if you can once you start riding your horse again just have someone walk alongside you to build your confidence for one or two outings. I was the same, my boy kept bucking going into canter so in my head, I didn't want to risk even walking so I made my hubby ride him. I think many people are more cautious once they have had children, it's self preservation really isn't it and wanting to protect your children but similarly you still need a life and a hobby.
Do let us know how you get on xx

Aww thanks girls! You made me smile, and yeah, sometimes instead of mummy, I want my own name back, lol...I hope it's going to be like a breath of fresh air...eeek, lol.x

I'll let you know, but what if my face breaks from grinning? Cackle...I've even thought about taking spare jodhpurs incase I split them...you see I'm over analysing...even pictured 'woman dies in riding school accident' going along the bottom of the screen on sky...pmsl...but in my heart, I know even if it happened, I'd die doing what I loved, my only regret would be that it wasn't on my own boy....I love this forum! Thanks again!xxx

You will be fine , your only nervous as you have had a long break from it , after my first son I had 2 weeks off then back riding after my 2 nd son I had 4 weeks off because of a c-section, you will love riding all the more as I know I struggle to find the time to ride so when I do I savour every second of it ! Have a great time you'll be grinning from ear to ear when your done.

Bloodyhell, blue and beau...cant believe how quick you got back to it! Good for you! I have waited till the weather for better and I was in the right frame of mind...so glad I did. Well I came back a couple of hours ago from the riding...I rode a cob called tom with the biggest beard ever...he was great, not your typical riding school horse, he made you work, lol. Everyone was right, I loved it, I almost bottled it, but the ri was like no! I am on cloud 9! And check this....riding again tomorrow. Thank you all so much, you've all given me something and I'm grateful for your tips and honesty...love to you all and kisses for your bubbas.xxx...it's great being a mum, but it's great to be ourselves too.xxx

Well done you , you might be a tad sore tomorrow you forget those crazy muscles hurt the ones you never knew you had !! It's my sanctuary my time with my horse but my kids now come up and play at the yard so can spend a bit longer there without feeling too guilty !

Another confession to make I was riding the day my waters broke at 33 weeks after some steroids the hospital let me out on day release twice lol I rode the horse both times and on the 2 nd day release I went into labour yay my midwives told me too though , at 35 weeks pregnant my first son was born !

He is a natural wee rider I told him that's because he was nearly born on a horse haha !!!

Very jealous I'm 27 weeks preg and missing it like crazy now the sun is back out !!

With my toddler I got to a show only to find my feet were bigger and I couldn't fit in my lovely leather boots - (I'd tried all the other clothes on!) apparently it;s quite common for feet to get bigger!!

Good luck and have fun!

Beau, you're hardcore! Lol, respect for that, you must have real trust with your steed! I think it's a great story to tell the little one, that's proper cool. Polos mum, I hear you, I didn't take well to pregnancy, my bum thought it was swell, and did so....buggar, my feet have gone back to normal, hips haven't, but I can get into my pre preg jods, granted they were my 'time of the month jods'....maybe it's just me that gets the bloat at that time...your time will come, polo, granted you'll have your handful, just remember to take some time for yourself when your babalou arrives. Good luck with the birth, and with finding a new pair of boots, I'd wait a few months before buying them, I'm a five but was a six for a few months. Love to you all girlies.x
