Hi all,

My very first post...it's exciting!

Anyway, I have recently been given an ex racehorse. I come from a horsey family and was quite clearly an easy target!
Said horse has now had his nadgers off and is up to weight. I have never re-schooled or broken a horse before and am very weary of it. He is a lovely horse so far but don't want to just jump on him blind!

Can anyone recommend a trainer in oxford that could help me? I don't want him sent away as I would like to see him being worked and help as much as possible.

If anyone has any suggestions or has an ex racer themselves, please get in touch - I would love to hear from you!

Thanks all

I say Oxford, It's actually Stadhampton. I also have no transport so would either need to fit some sort of winged device to said horse (!) or find someone that could come to the yard...
not an easy thing it seems!
Thanks for the help so far

Hi just down the road from you with an ex-race.
Our trainer comes to Waterstock, just down the road, and can really recommend him. He has done a fab job with my friend and her new ex-race mare who is quite a challenge!
Don't suppose your at Lucys?

yes I am! Amazing, how did you know!? I'm hoping his antics haven't reached past the yard just yet!!
Would be so grateful if you could pm me his details?
Thanks

Ooooh I will follow this post with interest too....I had an ex-racer that I was 'given' to see if I could do anything with and was so over horsed it was dangerous...so wish I had had someone in the know to call on....said horse has now returned to owner with a future as a brood mare I believe, shame as it had incredible potential. Sorry not much help to you but good luck and will look forward to finding out how you get on.
