I know summer is almost over but better late than never!!

I was just hoping that someone could please point me in the direction of an effective(ish) fly gel which would be suitable for sensitive skin? My poor mare seems to be the only one out of our horses who gets badly affected by flies (I think they must be attracted to her colour!) and although she wears a fly mask in the field, they completely swarm around her muzzle and drive her mad. She puts up with it for so long, just nodding her head constantly, and then goes into a frenzy trying to bash them off and runs to the trough to dunk her nose into it - feel very sorry for her as the others don't even have masks and they get completely left alone.

I'm a bit wary about what I use with her as she seems to react to lotions & potions which aren't designed for delicate skin - NAF's deet products brought her out in lumps and a strange rash so want to stay away from that. I use the Power Phaser spray on her body which she's fine with... have been considering spraying some onto a sponge and applying it around her muzzle but not sure whether it's too strong to be on that delicate area?

I know no gel is a miracle worker but would be very grateful for any suggestions for something which may help to deter the beasties a little!

I like Barrier Fly Gel in a tub and also Carr Day Martin Protection Plus but that is bright red and greasy so not great!

Sudrcreme contains Benzyl Benzoate and may be an option if the horse isnt sensitive to that

You know Phaser make a Gel product , I use it my self but I don't know how hypo-allergenic it is .
If you can use the spray this could be worth trying.

Thank you so much for all your suggestions - there is hope out there! Will order a few and see how we get on, hopefully I can keep some of Britain's fly population away from her! x
