how long does it take for a new feed to affect a horse? I'm changing my ponies feed gradually over the next few weeks mainly to see if it will help her fizzy temperament but how long will it take for the new feed to take effect roughly??

i think it depends a) on the horse b) on the feed c) on the horse's work load.

if you are changing your horse's diet so that the energy is coming from oils and fats rather than starches and sugars then you should expect to start to notice a difference within 4 weeks, and to see the full benefit at 8-12 weeks.

if you are just changing from one feed to another without changing the energy source then it is debatable IMO whether you will notice a difference.

PM me if you need more help.

Just out of interest, what have you changed your ponies feed to? I've tried allsorts with my tizzy mare and she is the best she has ever been at the mo on Small scoop of quiet mix, small scoop of calm and condition, and Baileys lo cal balancer. It took about a week for a noticeable difference.
