Been told loan horse used to have this 2x week. Know it is for hooves - what is the difference between green and black?
And is it differencto cornucobine?
Never used Effol (I think they're all much of a muchness..) but I presume it's like lots of the others, i.e. black for black hooves & the green actually comes out clear, i.e. for light hooves (can obviously also be used on black hooves as well but just doesn't have the 'back to black' effect...).
No difference other than the colour, its good stuff, but i personally prefer Kevin Bacon. Def see a difference when its been used though!! Black is good for showing.... and dressage!
I hate the Kevin Bacon stuff as I find it too hard to put on the hooves (it sticks to everything but the hooves...), I have always used Effol and find it very good. A friend's horse has it on quite often (2/3 times a week) and she has fantastic feet. My horse's soles started flaking a while ago so I started putting it on soles as well as hooves every few days and they soon stopped peeling everywhere.
Sal_E has described the difference between green and black, black does look horrible on white hooves so I use green on everything! Apparently you can also get yellow, don't know what that's for though!
I have used Effol for years - my farrier recommends it. And my horse has very good feet. I use the green (which comes out clear). Black is for black hooves.
Used KB last year...didn't do much and it's dead expensive... currently using, Huf Fet, which is similar to Effol, and has Aloe Vera in it.
Cornucrecine is the best...now comes in "spreadable" tub with it's own hoof brush, the All Hoof Types is the one like it predecessor (sp?) the hard stuff!!
I use the green effol on Rock, tbh its not making an incredible difference right now but he does have incredibly shockingly bad hooves, even feeding him lamilite hasnt helped all that much. I'm gonna continue using it daily though, i think it keeps them the best they can be (wouldnt wana risk not using it) what is kevin bacon?
Use it on hoof wall bout 5-6 times a week, and soles prob once or twice? Kevin bacon stuff has antibac properties, so good on their soles and frog clefts.
I like effol and also like Kevin Bacon's but have serious problems with Hoof Moist. I have found that Equimins' do a solid hoof oil with lanolin nad that seems to be very god and lasting well but I haven't used a whole tub up yet.
I do think that they're much of a muchness though. I suppose it's personal preference
