Eggbutt or loose ring?

It totally depends on the horse I have 1 Arab that likes a loose ring he over bends in an eggbut or hanging cheek, yet my other one prefers a hanging cheek and is all over the place in a loose ring.

Loose ring every time, gives you that little bit of movement so that the mouth piece stays stiller in the mouth and the contact is less fixed

Loose ring for nicer communication. Eggbutt for the training phase of a young horse, so when they have a moment there is no chance of any lip being caught in the bit and getting hurt.

Full cheek or eggbutt for the avoidance of pinched lips unless the horse prefers loose ring.

Bomber have a brilliant loose ring with an eggbutt shaped cover on it. Unfortunately not dressage legal the last time I looked, which is daft because loose rings are legal and so are eggbutts and this is just one that looks much like the other.

Eggbut for a youngster then move on to loose ring.
Not even sure why really, just what the people around me were doing when I started out!
