My cob can get girthy at random times of the year and am yet to find a trigger, other than it being possibly related to fluctuations in grass or diet.

He will go for weeks without resenting being girthed, then will have a few sticky days. He has been fine all over winter, but last week started being girthy again so have done some research and put him on Egusin SLH.

4 days in and he is back to normal which is encouraging. However from their website it is only used for a 21 day course. I would like to keep him on some sort of supplement to gain an 'even keel' throughout the year but am not sure what to give him? I have also looked at Egusin 250 and although this is marketed as a 'maintenance' product, again understand it is only for short term use.

I am going to discuss this with my vet when he has his vaccs in March, and look at getting him scoped for ulcers, but as he is normal in all other ways ie holding condition well and happy in his work, don't think it warrants speaking to the vet prior to this. He has a twice yearly physio session and his saddle is checked regularily so am convinced it is a digestive rather than back issue.

I have emailed the company for advice but have yet to have a reply, so any ideas or experiences from people who have used this product?

Thanks.

Just been talking to my Vet about this today :)

She recommended Egusin SLH, and said after the initial course continue with the SLH at a maintenance level and specifically not to move to the 250.
