as above really... seem to think that a lot of the training is midweek and down south...so is it worth my hard earned cash to join? :)

Definitely :D
I joined last year and did Ruth Edge and Ian Stark courses and was going to do the summer camp at Mistatigers but it did not run through lack of interest.
They were probably the 2 best training days I did in a long time and I am doing them again this year.
I also applied for (and got!!) one of their training awards which gave me £200 vouchers to spend on training and a 2 day course with Kenneth Clawson and JP Sheffield. So for me very, very worthwhile :D

I've decided to join this year - there are only 2 clinics that are within a couple of hours from me - Ruth Edge and Ian Stark - which I was thinking of doing without joining anyway. If you join it is only £22.50 for a year and each clinic is £15 cheaper for members so you save anyway. Also receive £10 training voucher when you join. The Ruth Edge day is 2 lessons for £60 which is a lot cheaper than it would be if you organised yourself and it is on a Sunday. Will need to take a (valuable) holiday to do the Ian Stark day but hoping it will be worth it. So even if only doing 2 clinics it works out a lot cheaper, and you can enter to win training vouchers. There does seem to be a lot more in the south but isn't that the case with most things?!

well worth it - remember that if you visit Burghley for example, they have a hopsitality tent there - so free tea/coffee all day and plenty of screens of the action, in a good atmosphere (and a nice dry place to sit if it rains.) They have hospitallity at a number of other events too

What level do you need to be at for these clinics to be useful? They look fab but my lad is only a baby Who has done some BN but no XC as of yet so wouldn't want something too advanced.. Do you thinks it's worth waiting until next year when we will be more established??

No need to wait they cater for all levels. It says this on the website. When I went last year it was before we had even done a BE90 or jumped any bigger than a 90cm SJ course - I was a little worried we would not fit in but it was absolutely fine. Just put the level you and the horse are at when you send in your course form :)

Agreed, our 5yo was very green XC in Sept 09 but we found the sessions useful! Access to good trainers at a reasonable rate, ok there may be some you may not click with as much but that's the same as when you arrange training yourself. As said above soon recoup the membership fee!
