Just heard of another withdrawal on vets advice not to risk taking horse to the champs in case of the virus spreading. I'm due to compete there on the Sunday but not sure what to do. There doesn't appear to be much of a panic in the eventing world, just being sensible and using precautions. I read the article in H&H that it is not air born and just to avoid touching other horses or transferring the virus on your clothes or hands. It would be such a shame for the winters if there are lots of withdrawals after everyone involved as put in so much effort, but obviously this must be balanced against the risk to the horses. What is everyone else's opinions?

There is massive debate on the BD forum - you should have access as a BD member.

I wish there was a way of telling how many had already withdrawn.

I am in the same predicament. It's the first time I've qualified and I may never qualify again. My horses's health is paramount, plus we have other big goals in the not too distant future. If I do take the risk and go, it will be gutting to get there and find only half the competitors you expected in each class. Any achievement will not feel as special if half the class aren't in attendance.

It is a real dilemma. Especially when you have a long journey to get there ahead of you also.

I'm hoping we'll have more of an idea when the times go up to see how many are left in the classes. Although still I don't feel this will give the full picture as many, like me, will wait until the very last minute to make a decision.

I am going. I will only withdraw after the times have been issued for reasons out of my control. I think it will be very unfair if people that really have no intention of going do not withdraw before the times are issued.

With the measures put in place and everyone taking their own precautions I see there being no more risk than going to a local show. I have discussed it with my vet and yard owner and this is their opinion also.

We are going too, barring last minute illness or injury to horse or rider. It's L's first time and I hope it still has the feel that it should have. It will be sad if we come away having not had the feeling of competing at a Championships when we've all worked so hard to get to it.
