Can I have the award for a the MOST frustrating horse please?!

Got there, warmed up nicely for the dressage, went in, was sweet enough but just got slight distracted once or twice. Was pleased with the test, except one momentary break in concentration where he struck off on the wrong leg, got a 33.

Several 8's though including the second canter transition which made me

Long wait until the Sjing, went to warm up and the warm up ring was carnage. Popped a few, flew a nice square oxer and went in. Jumped 1 to 2, a strangely long 6 strides beautifully, 3 was a double on a long 1 stride when walked it, G ponced into the first part, landed steeply but stood off the second part and cleared it easily

Was

as he very rarely stands off so was pleased! That was short lived, as came round to no. 4, ears pricked, on a good stride and the b*ggar skipped out sideways

Couldnt get him near it, so got the big E

Got him over it after been eliminated, and he didnt even look at it!

He has never run out, so this is a new trick. NOT happy.

Was allowed to take him XC and he partially redeemed himself, he flew round, was so clever through the curved upright to sheep feeder, and also the sunken road which was a step down, one stride then bounce steps up. Launched up the Horseware island with the ditch infront, and ponced through the step/bounce log into woods beautifully. Came home with just 2 time penalties which is our best yet round there round the most testing course.

So back to the drawing board.

frown.gif
Maybe just put it down to one of those things and try to forget about it- as it is unlike him and see how he is next time
smile.gif

Glad your dressage and xc went well

Well done-ish, the cross country was very scary looking! (Well to wussy me anyway!)

Hen didn't like number 4, he jumped it with his head between his knees looking at it, so maybe it was extra spooky! Plus the killer sheep were lurking the other side!

Gutted for you, naughty G, glad he made up for it on the XC though and a good dressage - still very frustrating.
Did it have funny fillers or anything? had he worried himself jumping big over previous fence? or was it just naughtiness?

It was a viaduct wall filler, so yeah spooky, but he normally doesnt give a sh!t about fillers!! Think the first time was genuinely OMG, second time was evilness
frown.gif
DId think about that re. scaring himself, but you would forgive one stop (possibly!) but not 3!!!

Thanks Hen, the XC had a few questions and he ate that up and even got strong!!

Hi K, what a naughty monkey G is
crazy.gif
He's going to be one of these horses that you need to be one step ahead of every time out, such a shame, as you have been working hard with his SJ'ing. I can sympathise with you hun.xx

you need to practice your GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRrrr for next time... 2nd stops not allowed!!!!

At least you had a good XC run though - and 8's are not to be sneezed at! On a day when you get it all together, you'll be flying!

He is a very naughty pony, he almost did it the first time (he very very very rarely does running out!) and thought "this is fun" and did it again
mad.gif

Not sure if it makes it better or worse, but he actually got a 30dr....the adders up had missed the 2x for his free walk,

Oh poo what a bummer
frown.gif
sounds like the dr and XC went very well though
grin.gif

The SJ seemed to cause a lot of problems from the few rounds I saw whilst warming Pig up, lots and lots of scary fillers and those damn sheep

Hopefully, fed up with "getting there" with his SJing and then not
frown.gif
XC was awesome too, he was 4th fastest and that wasnt really pushing for time. Just absolutely no reason for him to do it

Yep, thats the plan, giving him a month off eventing, as Im broke and dont want to travel more than 3 hours to get somewhere! Really working on the flatwork so hopefully our dressage marks will improve, expect to have some showjumps down as usual but not worried about that

He is a monkey. Its usually the sheep or the pink jump with pink filler that gets them. I too know only too well what its like to get eliminated especially when you know that they are more than capable of doing the job. Perhaps you could hire out Eland or another venue with jumps before the next event? Could it be that he frightened himself with standing off too much? Just a thought although I`m sure that you have been through every avenue for his behaviour, if you are anything like me. Hope it sorts itself out soon.
Chin up for next time.
Well done for the great dressage score tho.
