elastic or rope?

right! finally decided to get a pessoa system..but dad will only buy me a copy[but that doesn't matter!]
and i want to keep him sweet..so i was wondering if the elastic ones were any less effective than the rope and pulley systems.
just wondering because the elastic ones are cheaper[on ebay anyway!] and would go for that instead of paying a bit more for another one..
