I have a 12 year old boxer lady with numerous medical problems including heart and thyroid problems.
At present she is in fantastic form but over the last year or so she has lost the hair on the edges of both ears. I put this down to the thyroid hair loss and the vet did not seem concerned. However in the last while the area has become scabbed and in the last few days has started to crack and bleed. She also has a crusty skin condition on her hips that comes and goes causing hair loss. We has skin scrapings done but they showed nothing.

I'm sure this is very sore for her.

Has anyone on here seen this before and how can I help her?

Sudocream on her ears would help. My12 year old Stafford also has a thyroid condition and sometimes get dry ski patches. A couple do days with sudocream cleans it up.
