I officially have an electric bum, everything I ride is more 'awake' than normal, mine only bucks with me on him, and I rode my trainers advanced eventer today who is lovely and normally very civilised and he was fly bucking in canter. He was just generally more awake than usual. I seem to do this to everything I ride no matter how quiet I sit.

Is there a cure?! I really cannot afford to have an electric bum on mine

If you discover the cure, do let me know!

I'd grin and bear it for the moment until Jerry becomes more settled in himself through time, though I do understand its easier said than done.

If you find a cure ill be happy to use it

When my OH gets on mine after me its like watching a greyhound out of a trap with me growling in the background about his electric bum! And my OH saying Oh his very forward going today isn't he.

Well after surviving 10 laps of the menege tonight in flat out canter with me wondering when the hell was ever going to end if you find the cure let me know - I also cannot afford to have an electric bum on mine.

How old is Jerry? Molly is 6...or will be soon.

I guess the only way you are going to find out what you are doing is to ride a mechanical horse, but one that actually analyses what you do in comparison to other riders - would be interesting to know.

lol we always call it a hot seat.

i have a hot seat/electric bum, and i have learnt to turn it off and on! haha
sounds weirdi know, but when ya riding youngsters its not always very good to have a hot seat lol, so i turn it off, i dont quite know what i do, but its like i can be riding along, and think arggh i got my hot seat today, so i stop. sit for a few seconds and relax thru my body then continue riding and WAlla! no hot seat, i can turn it on quicker than i an turn it off! hahaha

I used to have one as a teenager but now its calmed down. Probably goes with my mentality as I used to be a bit of a live wire when I was younger and so could hot anything up. I was also very bad at flatwork! Now I am a lot calmer and think a lot calmer so things tend to stay calmer.

ash has an electric bum also, when soph first came otto was skiving off work so i said have a lesson on soph...soph proceeded to P off round the school a few times and ash got off ,declared she was a nutter and has never sat on her since! soph has never done it with anyone else and half the yard have had a sit on her.

I too would like to join the list for a cure please.

As for how long it takes to 'cool off', i've a 9 yr old welshie who is a loony, and a 25 yr old mare who is perfectly calm with everyone else and extremely lively with me - I hate to say it but I'm not sure it does ever really go, you just have to find a way to 'manage' it.

(I haven't yet worked out how to do this but good luck with it!)
