Suggestions please. I need a cheap leisure battery for my electric fence, it’s only 80m in length. It only needs to last until end September.

Ask at a local garage? Batteries that don't work for cars any more might hold enough charge to power a fence? You maybe just have to make sure you charge up a bit more often - not totally sure but I think I used to use old car batteries....

If it is only for a short run and temporary use I agree ask your local garage. We use one when we have to bring the big leisure battery up to the house to charge. The old car battery works very well on quite a large area as a stand in measure.

I buy used car batteries from the local car breakers yard for £10. If I tell them why I want it they check for one that's holding it's charge well (they sell the rest of them as scrap for the materials price), and they have always lasted me at least 2yrs of daily use before eventually dying.
