I have an electric fence for the laminitic shettie and I usually use a single strand as she is pretty careful with it. Sometimes I use a double strand if I'm making the paddock smaller. However I don't use a connector - I just run the tape through higher and lower holes in the last posts, if that makes sense, so it doubles back again. Will the fence still work? I mean, pony stays inside so it doesn't really matter but I always wondered whether I am doing it wrong. I assumed since all the posts are insulated it would, but maybe not?

As has been said, if you are using plastic poles you'll be alright. Some pople use wooden poles & wrap the tape/rope around it because wood doesn't conduct electricity but when it rains & the poles get wet you dstart to have problems.
