OK, so we need to split our field into 2 and put a wee area for a school at the bottom.

I have worked it all out on a plan - pic below.

This is what I think we will need, but I would like somone in the know/experienced to check please.

22 post2 - getting round wooden ones.
400M of tape (3 runs each fence)
Clip Insulaters (3 for each post)
Corener insulators (3)
2 gate handles.

12v battery
Energizer

Red line will be 1 complete run of fence, Blue will be another, Gates Orange and fence posts yellow. Energizer/battery is pink.

What do you think?

Looks OK. You'll need an earth too. As it is getting drier now you might need to get it as deep as 1m. Just keep hitting it deeper until the fence works ;)

Ohh, forgot about that. Field is a hill and its kinda stoney/dry at the top. Bottom is clay so I think that will go there. Does it have to go near/with the energizer or should it be the other end?

if you can get an energiser with built in charge meter display like the Speedline ones from Rappa, they are so great, no charge tester needed and you know exactly when you need to change the battery!

the other thing is on your school you might want the line to be slightly larger than the 40x20 of the school so the school itself will be fully 40x20. Unless you want neddy to go faster by being zapped at A and C and E etc..... :-)))

Yeah, thats a good point about the arena bit. Prob be 42 x 22 meters then. Energizer going to be at the bottom where the 2 meet as well now.

If the blue fence is going up to the red fence just use a bit of your tape to connect the 2 together.

another tip re the earth stake when its dry like this if the fence isnt working properly chuck a bucket of water over the soil where it is.

Also are you sure you want to fence your school area? We choose not to because it means we can move it around a bit not wearing out the same track. If we want a rectangle we have some white guttering (4 short bits for corners and one long bit each side). But do find it easier if its moveable for when it is wet/dry etc.

Unfortunately field is a hill and that area for the school is the most level part of the field. I am not bothered about it wearing away the grass that much. The ground there is clay so usually kinda damp to thankkfull, but will prob need more than 1 stake.

We are putting in a gate where the 2 meet. I was just going to have it one of the gates that completes a circuit as I have seen a few folk do that, but it said that can cause bridging and burn out something.
