Electric fence tester Q

It should have a metal spike attached to the wire. stick that in the ground and then hold the sensor against the fence. There should be a sensor on the yellow part (at the top maybe?) :)

Thank you so much.. There is a shiny metal clip on the top, my guess is you hang it on the fence and stick probe in grass below.

We've had it sitting for ages, and never worked it out, so many thanks :)

Will be doing lots of electric fencing round new all weather turnout, so it will be invaluable. .

Erm, you might find it more comfortable to reverse the procedure and stick the earth in the ground first before touching the other cntact to the fence....

I'm too much of a coward to test out my electrical knowledge but I think that's the right way around! :)

And very easily destroyed - the cable usually gives up the ghost quite quickly. And a PITA. You don't leave it on the fence - just hold the plastic and touch the metal clip to the fence. When it gives up the ghost, spend a bit more on one like this - http://shop.electricfencing.co.uk/shop/42/53/101/149/digital-fence-tester. The one that currently lives in my pocket I've had for about 4 years (the one I've had longer is currently drying out after being dropped in a deep puddle, lol.) It's so much quicker and easier - hell - you don't eve have to touch the fence to know it's working - it turns itself on within a couple of yards of the fence though of course it won't read the voltage accurately.

Thanks JG...

I'll pass that link to hubby, he loves gadgets :)
