Im looking to electrify my fence to keep my naughty youngster in but I am slightly concerned as its under a pylon. Its not a wooden poled type pylon it the four legged steel pylon.

Does anyone know if there is any danger of the voltage from the pylon being transferred to my electric fence? Does anyone else have fences below electricity pylons or lines??

not a chance as the big steel ones are some height. The only way you are likely to get anything is through inductance and then the fence would have to be parallel for a few miles before it got anywhere near as much as a 9v battery let alone what your energiser kicks out...

No its potentialy a problem, and dependson how much fencing below the pylon is paralell to the conductors, The height of the conductors ,Voltage, and Load. Contact your electricity company and get expert advice.

There is only one strip of fencing that will be electrified below the pylon. If you imagine that you are stood in my field the pylon is to your left and the fence is set up to go across the field in front of you. The first wooden post that the fence is attached to is situated next to one of the four legs furthest away from you as you stand and look at the pylon if that makes any sense?

The pylon itself is unimportant, its how much of your fence runs paralell to ,and beneath the conductors betwean pylons.

The fence does not run parallel to the pylon if anything it goes away from the pylon. If I rang the electricity company would they offer phone advice or do you know if they come out and do a site visit?
