I had my esb200 stolen from the field a few weeks ago so need to buy a new one but looking on ebay there are so many different types. It needs to do a fairly large amount of double strand fencing.
Ideally it needs to run off of car batteries.
So which is the best one to buy? Should i stick with electric shepherds or are any of the other types as good/better?.
All the different joules and things confuse me as i dont really know what i need for it

I have a Rutland. It is now about four years old and runs a fair bit of double strand fencing (about 800 metres). The only thing i can suggest is investing in a leisure battery instead of using car batteries..they are designed to be run till flat unlike car batteries that are meant to be always charged.A leisure battery will outlast a car battery on fencing by miles.I put a leisure battery on my fence in late September last year and have only now just took it off to be charged and it wasn't completely flat.

I only use the car battery as that was what i have always seen used, have just looked on ebay at leisure batteries so when i choose which fencer to buy i may invest in one :)
