Sorry in advance this is a bit of a random post, but we are cat proofing our garden to keep our cats in, using a system that you can buy for rather a lot of money, but we have are doing it ourselves for a fraction of the price.

Its basically metal struts attached to the top of your fence with netting so the cats would have to climb it upside down on a wobbly net to get out.

What I want to do is run a strand of electric wire along as well as one of our cats is a bit of a sod and i think he would give it his best shot, but does anyone know where you can get insulators that would screw through a metal bracket (would need a nut on the other side to hold it in place)?

hmm I'm not too sure...clever you though for thinking of that...if the cat is holding on to something (which it would have to be - either wooden fence or onto the netting, which is connected to the fence) it should still be 'grounded' that way shouldn't it...I know wood isn't a great conductor but I'm guessing if its that or nothing it would still give the cat a shock.

???
