I presume this will not break if a horse runs into it/gets caught up in it???? Can anyone confirm this? Thanks!

I was just wondering about the safety aspect as my horse managed to get through tape between his paddock and the post and rail fence (3 ft between to seperate him from the horse next door). Electric tape is widely used for horses so I would hope it would break on pressure.

If a horse 'respects' it and it is always electrified, I would hope that they would not go near it. ie if it is high enough, ie 1.5 metres high with 2 or 3 strands of 30mm tape, but sadly some horses 'take the pee' out of it

I am amazed when I see 2 feet high 1/2 inch tape, that is battery powered, and the horses respect it .... my old boy, even now, would just jump it

Edited ... I would imagine that it would break under pressure, but I always worry that the 30mm may do alot of damage

I second that!!! my boy ran through some as a youngster before i had him! 6months box rest and a nice scar later and he totally respects the stuff but without paying the price first!

I have seen the damage that the wide stuff can do

It aint pretty!!!

I use the thinnest tape on the lower parts of the fence and a nice skinny rope on the top ....... reason is....

They can see the lower tapes so know where it is, but the top wire/rope packs a hell of a punch ... even off of a battery.... as mine has no joins etc to weaken the zap, whereas my tape is all old and crappy and has too many joins to conduct anything

Something ran through my fence last winter.... dont think it was the horses as none were cut or grazed even.... and the wire snapped fairly easily...... and something ate!!! through the lower tape last week!!

my young horse had just had an injury to her hock from going through electric fencing resulting in expensive vets bills and unsightly blemish.

QR I started to get worried when I saw my horse in this 3 ft gap between E fence and P&R fence. I have electrified it now, he isn't going near it. He does respect the current. And so do I as I tested it with a strand of grass!
It is 5ft high. If it was any lower he would just jump the lot (I've seen him do it).
