so i left her in a hour or two and gave her a bath. i ride every other day and i like my horse to be in tip top happy fit condition, but i cant do this in the weather lmao i have been recommend to use something called electro-lytes < i dnt no if thts there name but they are s'pose to put a restoring chemical in to them that they loose when been rode (hard work) what do u guys suggest ...? Are they any good..? And when should she have them ..? and is it possible to over dose her ....?

They replace the minerals etc that a horse loses in their swesat. They come as a powder & cost around £5 to £8 for a tub. My horse liked the flavoured ones.

The most important thing is that you offer plain water as well so the horse can choose. Human athletes say that electrolytes taste fantastic when you need them & horrid when you don't. If you always offer plain water too, you won't o/d cos your horse will only drink them if she wants them.

You can also put them in her feed - this is what i do with my boy.
So basically put them in their feed in the evening if they've sweated a lot that day, and can also be fed regularly (following the amount guidelines on the tub) for a horse like yours that sweats consistently.
They restore all the minerals lost in the sweat.

I use them, they are good because they replace important minerals, expecially in this weather when they sweat more. I personally use surealite (a type of electrolyte) because they are tasty and you cannot over dose. I also put the powder in a corner of his feed and mix it in, although you can put them in water, but I would only do that if i was 100% my horse liked them. You have to build it up over a few days to a normal level (it comes with how much a horse should have depending on how heavy it is), then when you have a competition or something hardworking, you can build it up slowly, then build it back down slowly. You should put them in the feed she has after riding. They are not expensive either!

You can also offer them in feed as well, but you do need to make sure they have plenty of water. One of my horses seems to not like electrolytes (have tried 3 different types) so after an ODE (usually an hour after the XC when he would have sweated a lot) I add electrolytes to about a 1/2 bucket of very wet sugar beet. Horse loves it!

Mine gets eectrolytes in his feed, but his feed is always very damp. It is important to make sure they ahve a fresh water source to hand too. My cob also loved electrolyes in Sugar beet!
