Hi silly question can someone tell me what electrolyets are,my trainer said i should make sure my mare has them after we do cross country but i didnot ask her what she ment i have a 15h connamara x tb what are they and how much do i give her thanks

Electrolytes are natural salts such as sodium and potassium (amongst others ) which are excreted in sweat. They are necessary for cell function and therefore it is necessary to replace them when a horse has sweated a lot.
That is a rather simplistic explanation, but hope it helps.

You can buy them in packets at your feed shop or tack shop. It will tell you on the pack how much to use.
