What electrolytes do you use? I tried Apple Lytes last year but they were well and truly given the hoof down! He's isn't normally too fussy but he wouldn't have them in water or feed. Any other suggestions?

I've been using the ones in the yellow, blue and white tub- I can't remember what make they are, but seem to be available everywhere! They also sell sachets of it and I think a paste, which might be usefull if he's really fussy.
I mix them in with some really sloppy sugar beet, but he will also drink them.

If you are feeding a compound feed do you really need electrolytes? At badminton a couple of years ago a spillers rep explained to me that they'd stopped producing an electrolyte becasue their feeds had all of them in except sodium chloride and I should just add 2 parts table salt to 1 part Low salt to their feeds instead.

It has saved loads in electrolytes they wont eat!!

the spillers feed store in the stable yard were giving out little sandwich bags with measured out salt in to everone so they didn't have to go but any.

you could try it before you invested in another tub?

The Baileys aqua aid is fab, and seems easily accepted by horses that have turned their nose up at the applytes. Also the Day SOn and hewitt 30 day ones are good.

I use TRM Electrolyte Gold (powder) or Superlyte (liquid) both are very good and i never had a problem with horses not eating them.
