Elevator vs Universal???

I really could do with some more control for showjumping! Horse gets excited and starts to lean, braking can become an issue!! I don't want a bit that is too strong though!!

I do flatwork in a french link snaffle.

It has been suggested that I try either a NS Universal or an Elevator! Which do you think would be best?
