So neddie and I are off to do some show jumping on sunday (alnog with groom/photographer peachesandcream hehe)
grin.gif

And after neddie refusing/cantering off round the ring/generally napping last time Im slightly worried about it!!!
Although peachesandcream has helped me immensly with control and schooling and ponio is so much better already so fingers crossed
grin.gif

Just wondered if anyone has any embarrasing experiences to share to make me feel better about obviously making a fool of myself

Im thinking worst case scenario..ponio refuses/runs off/I fall off all in one!
Bring it on

Falling off my 12h pony 6 times in one day when i was 6/7.
Same pony dumping me when i was 12, taking the bridle with me!
Falling off at the 1st showjump at Belton horse trials and crashing through the fence when some poor person was trying to do CIC*** dressage in the arena next door.
Oh and years ago when my mum had her cobs produced at HOYS the rider wasnt holding the horse as chatting, he proceeded to try and leave and the commentator told him that his horse was happily leaving the arena.

Not personally but my mum embarrassed us all once (although it was for good cause) when she got into an argument with some woman who set about her hunter with show cane across its face because it wouldn't go in the box.....the woman didn't take too kindly to my telling her that is no way to treat a horse and should be ashamed of her self...etc etc and well before you knew it the whole showground grew into a complete silence while everyone watched on, my dad told them both to calm down and well kind dragged my mum away.

Thankfully we were not parked up near her, nor in the same ring.

Many years ago though.

I was jumping, and for some unknown reason, as the tack had been checked, my girth was suddenly NOT done up....Pony went one way, I went another way, and saddle went another way.....!

We had qualified our pony for the workers at HOYS and my daughter took her to a local show to show jump her. A lot of people knew she had qualified. Halfway round the course the pony shot off and did two circuits of the ring before daughter got her back under control. She then came off her and pony again charged off round and round. When she allowed herself to be cought daughter got on and finished her round, although obviously eliminated. Pony cane out grinning from ear to ear and had really enjoyed hersef.

Being bucked off across the diagonal in a dressage test - was dumped nicely at X and horse set off to join in the dressage test going on next to me

Got dumped rather spectaculary IN fence 3 in my first affiliated show a couple of years ago. (I landed in the middle of the oxer). Plus my step dad managed to get the whole thing on camera - just to add to the humiliation.

Doing a jumping class recently and being terrified, George refused a couple because I was so nervous and then stopped and swerved at the 13th and I fell off and over the tannoy very loudly 'That's Trish and George eliminated..................Trish are you ok' - well thanks for drawing attention to it!

Then last week I went and did clear round over a very scary 2ft 6 course, it was quiet when I went in, we had a couple of stops and some hairy jumps all due to my nerves, but a stop at the last had me off - by the time we came out quite a crowd had gathered!

errr last week when I fell off jumping a little x pole in the warm up, got back on but cried for the next 15 mins then withdrew from the competition
blush.gif
and at the same time my friend's pony went a bit bonkers and reared right up while she was just trying to walk him round and she then withdrew as well...I am insisting that we just went along to provide entertainment in the warm up ring!!

Oh and in a riding club pony class last year the jump was put up much bigger than I expected (or had ever jumped). I sat there in the line up and burst into tears with all these little 10 yr old girls around me trying to calm me down...I am 25!!
blush.gif
However, despite the tears (which I put down to forgetting to eat all day and therefore feeling a bit pathetic) I did the jump and got placed
smile.gif

Haha thats my worse fear of entering a class not just clear round - is hearing them say over the tannoy 'um im afraid thats elimination '
blush.gif
grin.gif

At least clear round I can just do whatever and nobody will know
smile.gif

Oh bex thats definately going to happen to me, there will be tears at some point, whether they are tears of joy for actually going clear or tears because I just cant do it
grin.gif
But I WANT to do it, so I am!

Last boss managed to drive all the way to her showing class in her big lorry and found that she had left something at home namly her horse!

when I was about 14 I took my young pony to a hunter trial. I was in the process of putting a red ribbon on her tail when she double barrelled me in the stomach and I spent the next 15 minutes flat on my back gasping for breath and going blue whilst a small crowd amassed to marvel at my stupidity
smile.gif

Nothing wrong with a few tears
wink.gif
I have got used to being surrounded by fearless kiddies while I sit there being a quivering wreck!

Good luck for the show - enjoy yourself and get lots of piccies

a friend that fell off in a workers class and landed with her bum in the air. It became suddenly obvious that her period had started. Hugely mortified

Noooooooo! How embarrassing!

I don't have anything to add since the most embarrassing thing about my show experience,.............is that Monty opts out of going in the lorry every single time!

Would be quite nice to actually BE at a show and embarrass myself!

aged 14 having fallen off first pony twice and second pony once having another go at a different class on first pony. man on tannoy introduced me then asked 'are you going to stay on this time ? ' over whole show ground ensuring huge audience came to watch. got me going though - would have won had not forgotten jump off course !!!

more recently fell off my 16'3 in a cross pole clear round I did to get my confidence back - everyone else doing it was on a lead rein pony ! lots of supportive mums around to look after me though !!!

One of my first shows with B was held at the next farm along from our yard.

B was very very spooky when he was younger, so I did my class quite stickily, was so delighted to get round clear but just after the finish marker, b did the most enormous spook at the horse in the next arena, dumped me, then wouldn't catch & then the little bugger jumped the tape at the gate, galloped through 3 dressage arenas (with people in them) and headed straight for home!!!!

Found the little swine at the gate of his field waiting to be let in.

Oh and I was eliminated - apparently there is some silly rule about having to leave the arena mounted - not 5 minutes after your horse!.

I did manage to make it to an edurance on my friend's horse. It was my first one and I did 32km in good time...........only to fall off 3 metres from the line. Horse galloped off, spooked and dumped me on my head before merrily trotting over finishing line and back to the lorry.

Baileyhoss that rule is not a BSJA 1 i have jumped a jumped off gone through the timing horse shied i went 1 way he went the other and i well off!!!
BUT......
since it was after we had gone through the timing WE WON hehe
smile.gif

Taking Cairo Clydesdale jumping and in the jump off, he came to a halt, had a dump and then continued - he still came third as only two others went clear and he had not refused or walked backwards so they counted him as a clear, albeit slow clear round
grin.gif

Needless to say Chancer and Farra have been trained no stopping and pooing.

I've done that too! lol! although i came third!

I've had many but one of the most embarrassing was when showing a welsh Sec A mare in the main ring at the east of england showground.
She played up big time and escaped and proceeded to do several laps of the whole arena on her own.
I just wanted to dig a hole and hide!

Last show of last year, I took daughter in lead rein class. It was fairly quiet being the last show....only 2 other competitors and they were also off our yard so knew them well.

3 ponies....one stopped for a poo, one stopped for the worlds longest wee and then went around with his willy dangling in the breeze (much to my amusement, don't think the kids noticed

) and the other one grazed the whole way round.
