Hi. Heard from another member that there is a service in the South West region offering mobile Embryo Transfer facilities to do this procedure at your home. Would be very interested in this service but would like to know if anyone has heard of it, whether someone has used it before and would like to share experiencs

Are you sure? Over here all is done in an equine clinic or a stud with the necessary facilities. I dont like the idea but maybe Im just old fashioned

I've heard of it. Apparently they cost nearly double what a good vet would charge you.

Not so, I have looked into it and I was quoted alot less than Beaufort, which is the biggest place in the area.

The thing to remember when embarking on ET it is that expensive, time consuming and in many cases the results are unsatisfactory. I've looked into ET and Beaufort is very good with better than average results, but the problem is they tend to do the polo horses first as this is their main source of income. The idea of mobile Et would certainly appeal but you would need to see the experience and results of the team before embarking on this as I would think the interaction between your vet and mobile et team would be greatly reduced. Who would inseminate, who would scan all these areas would needed to be covered before starting. Having read your breeding post, I would say if your mare is still in Holland then leave her there. The dutch and the germans have a much better track record than over here. If this is not possible then chose your ET team carefully.

Depends on where you go, and how you do it.

time consuming

Same applies. A normal insemination and a flush is not exactly time consuming for the mare owner if the transfer is performed at home.

Not sure this is true either. Centres like Beaufort have ~80% success rate.

I think they just start at the end of the Polo season, rather than doing "polo horses first". Their opening dates are a little late in the season for some people, but they are open for business to any horses.

The mobile ET team being referred to in this thread are independent of vets. They have their own vet, so there is no need for this interaction, unless the vet or owner liked this...

The mobile team would take care of all of this, so it's not an issue.

There's nothing wrong with the services being provided in the UK. The right places provide good services, end of story.
