HORSE INCIDENT ON TV WEDS 23 MAY 8PM

Meanwhile in North Yorkshire, biker cop Martin 'Smithy' Smith plays detective as he pieces together a mystery accident. A car has collided with two horse riders, sending them and their horses tumbling into a ditch. One horse is so badly hurt it might have to be put down...
:eek::eek::eek:

I wonder how many are now setting their recording devices ....

I would let it be shown if it were me and my horse involved in an accident.
Not pleasant for the owners, but if it raises awareness... ?

There was a horse related accident on 24hr a & e where a woman was crushed between a gate post n horse. Yet to watch all of it, as have it recorded.

Have the horse owners really given consent for this?? Proper written consent? fine if they have but cant imagine I would if it were me...

If a person is not convitcted of anything then they can insist their faces are blanked out but not anything else as it is in a public place
Thats the law/broadcasting guidelines

Hmm I think where an accident is involved the parties really ought to have to consent to be shown at all, seems like thats not the case and understand that, just not sure I think the rule is right.

They might be happy with it in order to educate car drivers but I personally couldnt have agreed to it, if only because of TV company habit of endlessly repeating such programmes on digital channels ad infinitum which I would find upsetting.

I just hope that the incident doesn't involve anyone on the forum, especially if they have no idea that it is about to be screened on National TV, Benson21 springs to mind.

Thinking about it, I doubt they need permission. Just think of some of the photographs that papers print. I very much doubt Caroline Pratts family gave permission for the photographs of her fatal accident at Burghley to be printed...yet they were. In sequence, to show exactly what had happened.

The horse incident is shown but only after the incident. It starts by saying the horse had been taken away and the rider off to hospital in an ambulance, the second rider looks unhurt and gives a statement, the driver is charged with undue care and attention.
It only covers a few minutes of footage and not a lot is mentioned.

I watched it as well last night, I did note that it was, or had been raining which may have reduced the visibility. Apart from the fact that the driver couldn't see much past the end of his bonnet (they did a basic eye test on him ... which he failed) there was no mention of whether the riders/horses had any hi viz gear on, out of curiosity I would quite like to know the answer to that one.
