Had a lovely afternoon hacking out both of my horses and had just popped home for something to eat before going back to put them to bed when I got a phone call to say one of them was colicing.

Vet arrived and couldn't feel anything totally untowards on the rectal exam so then decided to stick a tube up the nose. Could not believe the amount of reflux that came out, 2 large bucket fulls. Decided the best course of action was to take him through to Rossdales for a scan of the intestines.

Thankfully a fellow liveries Dad was at the yard and fetched their lorry to take us over to Newmarket. After the initial examination there had the good news that nothing obvious on the scan, probably adhesions from where he had colic surgery 4 years ago.

So a night of observation in intensive care box 3 and if everything o.k. should be home tomorrow. Just praying that he is o.k. and I get no phone calls during the night to say he has had a relapse.

Thank you all for your best wishes for him. Rossdales certainly is a fab place, just wish we hadn't been there so many times...3rd time for the one there tonight and once for my other horse! Going to go get warmed up in bed now but doubt if I will sleep much. Will post an update on his progress. x

Just had an update call. Currently Denby out in the paddock at horspital to make sure he can cope with grass, then will get a proper feed to make sure he can cope with that too and some hay. Providing everything o.k. he might be allowed home early evening. Next update from the vets about 4 pm. As for me...walking zombie springs to mind...lol!

Horses...why do we have them! Good job I love my boys to pieces!

Good news is Mr Denby Dollops is back home...cheeky as ever and fabulous greeting when he heard us and saw us when we arrived at horspital to collect him. Has been a very long day and poor dog has had his legs walked off to help pass the time between update phone calls from Rossdales. Final check of the night now and providing all o.k., straight to bed for me. Thank you everyone for your best wishes for him. :-)
