Well of course its Bank Holiday weekend so normal vet closed.

Dog had diarrhoea last night, been fine over night, has diarrhoea this morning with a small amount of mucus and blood in.
She is fine in herself. Do I panic and trek to the emergency vets (20 mile round trip and £140 just to walk through the door )
or sit tight till tomorrow and see what happens. Suspect its a touch of colitis. Other dogs had this before but forgotten what vet said, possibly anti biotics ? Ive lost count of the amount of times over the years that animals have decided to be ill when out of hours of the normal vets!

I am really tight so if she seemed happy enough I would wait until tomorrow. If she looked in pain I would go now.
What do you do for colitis? Starve? Or bland meals?

I'd wait until tomorrow unless symptoms get worse. It's unlikely to be anything major If she's fine in herself and no more expensive if you wait and see and have to take her later after all.

How do they always know when it's a weekend?!

Even my guinea pig picked a Sunday night to need a vet visit ! I think I will wait, she is playing with her squeaky pig at the moment !

I always starve for 24 hours then re-introduce food on half rations - it seems to work, the greyhounds seem to have a tendency to upset stomachs (must be all the stuff they eat in the garden!)

She may not need to see a vet at all so don't panic too much.
So long as she is bright in herself and not vomiting profusely too, then starve today and start on a bland diet tomorrow. You can also buy yudigest to help. If she is unwell in herself or it doesn't stop in a few days then see a vet.

Kaolin from chemist, tell them its for you, make sure it's not the (now illegal) one with morphine, my local very old fashioned chemist has nothing but still! Child version is good. Standard item for me.

Starve and Kaogel for 24 hours, then 3 days of ProMax/Diahalt/similar and bland diet for 24h - Thrive ProRemedy food because I'm lazy and it's easier than cooking chicken and rice (it's a freeze dried sachet of chicken and rice, add boiling water and it gives you food for a 10kg for 3 days so last one of mine 24h nicely)

I'm awaiting a poo to inspect ! Booked a vet appointment yesterday, then cancelled as prior poo seemed OK bit loose but no blood.
She's not been today at all, usually get at least 3, I'm supposing she is all poo'd out at the moment. She is eating and seems fine otherwise.
I am probably worrying for nothing but not knowing her previous history re this and her age I keep a hawk like eye on her
Not heard of Prokolin but will google it and get some in as a back up
