Just printing off the order to go for my kids to badger their granny with today and discovered Emma going third last instead of 4th and and Australian going before Laura .... looks like Anky has withdrawn.
Anyone know any more?

Anky is in before Emma, even though she's top score. I have no idea why but it might have something to do with her being the reigning champion - maybe the top dog gets to pick? (Really no idea, just joking.)

That's a really bad draw for Emma, though. First, to follow that test, second to have to go into what will no doubt be a super buzzy arena.

Maybe Anky power rules? Or Isabel did not want Anky immediately before her and leave a buzzy arena for Satchmo to cope with. But then looking at the starting order there are several riders whose draw does not co-ordinate with their real scores from the previous round.

I checked how they do the draw order and it all came back to me . . .

The qualified riders are divided into 5 groups of 5, which go in reverse order, and then each group is drawn for order within the group.

So the horses ranked 21 to 25 go first in the ring but those 5 go in whatever they're drawn, then the horses ranked 16 to 20 go next in their drawn order and so on.

I guess the point is that going later does convey an advantage but going after the top horse sometimes does the opposite. Also, it's probably partly to help the judges be less influenced by the order without making it a total draw and then having "mark creep" set in.

I'm not convinced that the marking was all that just today.........sticking my neck out here, but why was Salinero marked so much higher than Lancet??? I appreciate the judges see more than the TV, and are also hugely more qualified than I am, but I preferred her test, and didn't see such a huge mark discrepancy between them.
There's something about Salinero that to me is a bit brittle, as if he hasn't the confidence to really move forward...unlike Lancet, or the Russian horse, or Isabelle Werth's horse.
Hmmmm....prolly opening a can of worms here, so I'd like to point out that I am overawed by all of them, I don't know what I'm failing to spot tho'...........
