Had a lesson with lukey this morning..Lukey is 3 and unbacked, sorted a few issues out and all was going well. Then progressed to him being led With me walking alongside putting pressure on his back/saddle...he wasn't phased at all, so we got the mounting block and i gently lay across the saddle. Well, he was such a good boy..So, instructor asked him to walk on with me laid across him

we managed a few steps before I slid off and gave him lots of hugs, and cried like a baby

i'm so proud of him.

Oh it is great when things go so well...wasn't expecting to progress so far today, but he's such a dude and took it really well, even the sobbing mess that was me at the end

Oh well done it is so nice when things start to come together and all the hard ground work pays off. Lovely day to do it on too.

When I got on my horse for the first time (well, he was sort of mine), he turned a nose to my boot as though to say 'Oh, that's where you've gone' and that was it, totally chilled

Aww, how lovely to see this! Well done both of you (though it seems to have been a far bigger step for you than for him LOL)! Onwards and upwards, one step at a time.

baby steps are fine, not sure I can cope with anything else right now...was embarrassing standing in the middle of the school sobbing with lukey looking totally confused as to why mum had suddenly gone to pieces
