Evening all,

3 years ago my cob x heavy horse mare went very slightly lame on one of her fore legs and developed Laminitis as a result. She had x-rays etc and all was fine but when ever she was ridden she came up short on that leg.

We broke her to harness and she is fine! She did a full winter series last/this yearand remained sound. She then had April - August off due to me having a baby and although she put on a bit of weight she wasn't 'fat'. She came back into work and then came up short on that leg again.

Vet said she has active Lam (although it was very mild) and suspected EMS so she is on a strict diet, now looking lovely and I am to drive her and if that means using bute then so be it as the exercise helps her to regulate her insulin.

She is due her fasting blood tests next week to help diagnose EMS.

Problem I have is I feel really bad exercising her when she is sore/lame I know she isn't with the bute but she is really its just masked!! She no longer has active Lam but her leg/shoulder is still playing up (vet thinks she was compensating for sorness in foot due to Lam - but I'm not sure).

I wondered if anyone has experience of EMS especially if you have the problems with lameness.

Thanks in advance :)
