Hey guys, ive been a little lax with eventing updates so here's 2 in 1!!

My last post saw me hitting the deck in the BE100 at Little downham, its still a bit of a sore spot tbh.... no seriously i still cant lie on my right hand side!! :D

Next up was Weston park BE90..... a 3 hour drive at 5:30am on 2.5 hours sleep is seriously not cool 🙈
But I am pleased to say I even managed to stay on board for all 3 phases!! 🤣
35.8 dressage, one down SJ in very deep going and another speedy XC to finish clear inside the time in the BE90! He literally skipped round the xc not really giving the fences terribly much respect tbh but it was the confidence boost we needed after eating dirt!
Very hot section so didnt trouble the leaders ❤️
If the rain could have stayed away it would have been lovely! Very nice venue shame the ground got cut up but beanzy coped just fine with his little Irish legs! i had a friend join me with a big camera!! so manged a few cool pics!!

My new absolute favorite!! Im so lucky to own him!!!

Next up eventing wise was our last run of the season at Norton Disney, back up to the 100 for a final attempt!! Not the best run up to it as we had to leave the country short notice the weekend before for a funeral but hes plenty fit enough so a few days off and dressage prep wouldnt kill him!
Dressage up first as always!! 😝 he felt a little unsettled today but did perform a nice enough test to get us a 36, never going to trouble the leaders but tbh that’s not what we are about atm, it just about having fun and gaining experience and we definitely did that!! 😁
My favourite phase up next.... the course looked nice a few sweeping turns but nothing massively out the question, he was jumping really well up until the last where there was somewhat of a brown pants moment 🙈 where I thought I might be eating dirt again! 🤣 he just took the first element of the double down and then seemed to completely miss read the second and attempted to superman it! 🙈 and then panicked on landing - such a sensitive soul bless him!!
You know you’ve done a decent job though when a pro rider makes the comment of ‘well sat!’ 🤣 gave the commentator a nice scare too... I was getting them in the spirit for Halloween 👻 anyway 2 down which tbh I don’t care about he jumped fab minus our little mistake!!
Finally onto the xc!! 😍 the course looked nice a good few combinations asking an array of questions the biggest being 2 steps up, down a mound to a skinny WIDE double brush!!! 😱 it was huge!!! A bit further round we had another skinny wide brush to an offset double of logs, so plenty to keep us occupied! He flew out the start box and literally ate the course up! So flipping proud of him ❤️ he came back and listened when asked and made the whole thing feel very very easy!! Just picked up 1.6 of a time fault where I probably spent a bit longer than necessary setting him up but meh minor details because he was AMAZING!!! 🤩🤩🤩 The commentator had some fun too.. he called me the galloping scientist for most of my round! I always forget what rubbish i write in the commentators notes when i enter, clearly i mentioned what i do for a living!!
Finishing on a respectable score of 45.6!! 😍
So unbelievably proud of him!! ❤️❤️

some links to some video!

I honestly had no plans to go 100 on him this season, its not been a smooth ride with the first run racking up a cricket score in the SJ, a big fat E at our next attempt but we did finish on a high and tbh all i wanted was to show that we were capable! Next season we shall consolidate at this height and just have lots of fun!

Thanks for reading all my ramblings, he will quieten down a little before a cheeky team chase run and then he's on holiday for a few weeks to really chill out! In the process of all of that i'm hoping to get my big lad back out competing... its been 3 years!!! :D

Lovely report and what a super horse. A real partnership, especially with the soothing words to him after the double in the showjumping. What a brilliant recovery from you :) Good luck for 2019.

Thank you! He’s an absolute dude!! Been a complete pleasure to produce! Yeah he does tend to panic and shoot off (it’s how I came off at Little Downham!) and it is completely out of fear so I find it’s best just to talk to him and try and chill him back out, no idea what happened when he was backed but he really isn’t a fan if you get unbalanced on him, bless him he’s getting there though, I just have to remember he is a sensitive soul!!

Flipping marvellous. Well done. Lovely pics too. Glad that you got a run out at 100 again and are feeling more confident and still enjoying things. Look forward to your reports next season!
