Endoscopy costs?

Basically what it says in the title. Has anyone had one of these done, what does it entail and how much do they cost. I know this might be better in the vets section but more people seem to see things here (and answer them).

My horse had one side of her head scoped at a cost of £86 (if I remember rightly).

I'm interested because I know the options for checking after strangles is this or a swab and was wondering cost and difference in procedure- sorry didn't make my post at all clear. I'm reading up a lot on this atm and so many different sites say different thing - 3 swabs so many days apart, 3 swabs within two weeks, 2 swabs within 4 weeks. As with anything horse related there is never a definite answer. One vet is saying one swab should be enough another is saying 2 swabs 4 weeks apart. If they can't agree what hope do I have?!!! I have been reading the animal health trust website on strangles. Apparently an endoscopy is best though so was wondering price and procedure.

My Lad had B&*tard Strangles 3 years ago, was endoscoped 5 times through out the 5 and a half months he was in isolation (24/7)

Personally i would recommend 3 swabs 2 weeks apart like we had done, or work on the rule have one if its clear, have another if that one is clear then you are free of infection, if its not clear continue with swabs 2 weeks apart until you are.

Remember if you dont go ahead with the swabs even if a endoscope doesnt show infection the horse may still be a carrier and will infect others.

The horse is better and only had a very mild case of strangles, it's the carrier bit I'm trying to eliminate before moving yards. If swabs can do this then swabs it is.

My lad has had two, it involved sedation, then a tube up his nose basically..actually..mine might have been called a scope? Similar thing I think though?

Im sure mine cost about £170 but that included call out, sedation, endoscopy, and a bronchial wash. This was to diagnose COPD dont think price to bad tbh, it was an equine specialist that done it.x
