interested this year in doing a wee bit of endurance riding just for fun, as have always been interested in it.

what tack is best?

also any pics of yours in there tack or on endurance ride would love to see.

I've done alot of Non Competitive Rides and only in my normal riding tack, Wintec GP saddle. We've done 2 day rides and up to 32km, not needed anything more. I'm sure proper Endurance Riders will be on later to provide more advice if you're thinking of something more :)

I do trec with my boy, and ride in my normal saddle (leather GP) and have just bought a Zilco combination bridle LINK. If I could afford a new saddle I'd probably get a lighter/synthetic one, but that's something that will have to wait a while.

You really only need to get endurance tack if you are going to get serious and do the long rides. For NCR's and lower level distances just use what you (and the horse) are comfy in.

This was me last summer -

Normal tack is fine. You may want to invest in comfy stirrups if you can find them second hand.
A comfy seat saver is a good idea.
Jods that are light and comfy.

Think about your underwear......I did my first 32 k ride in two bras and a thong.....I was chafed and blistered for weeks!

Performance Equestrian and Plas Equine are two sites to look for matchy matchy endurance stuff ;)

Zilco Compositi stirrups are lightweight and comfy with a flexible tread. Though not specifically marketed for endurance (I've heard that Zara Phillips has used them for cross-country for eg) I find them great for long hacks - kind to my creaky knees!
IF you do a bit of searching you should be able to get them online for about £20 or so - see a previous post of mine for a link. (Be warned - Rideaway and other big names may charge as much as £32.50 for a pair).
Also - check out the Endurance GB website for lots of useful articles and advice on getting started.
