English pointers

Hi Guys,

I am looking at working breeds for my next dog , no time soon as my collies are v fit and healthy.

Just doing some research at the moment. My OH has a shooting business and works 2 springers.
It got me thinking how I would like to work my own dog when we go shooting.

So, does anyone here work english pointers? Would be interested to here from anyone that does.

Hello,

I have an English pointer. I don't work him but he is my constant companion. Comes out hacking with me, running and is with me pretty much all the time.

I absolutely adore him and he is most definately the love of my life!!! He is gentle, very affectionate but at the same time can be a looney. He gets lots of running time every day so is very contented. He is good with all other animals(except rabbits). He catches these by the dozen.

There is a pointer kennel in our village and they work them. I feel really sorry for them tho as they are kenneled, my boy loves the heat and would die if kenneled i think. They dont get out when it's not working season, poor dogs.

I would have another one tomorrow, but as they are quite demanding of time/attention I would only have one at a time. I also have a working lab bitch and they get on very well together.
