Love my little Highland mare. Since being ill the past 4-5 years I've struggled to hack more than an hour but used to go out for 2-3 hours most days. We've been doing several days hacking and I've ridden more this year than I have in a while.
Hacked to beach to meet friends and tide was coming in so a short beach ride in walk as it was also reasonably windy and then we wandered through the woods. I was out for just shy of 3 hours with a mix of walk, trot and canter. I took a shortcut home that turned out to be not a shortcut and got a little bit lost but we got to a path I recognised and mare wanted to take the long way home so we went that way as it meant a nice, long canter on a lovely path.
It was so nice to be back out on my mare for a decent length of hack and she enjoyed herself. (First photo was back home and second was not far from home)
