Enjoying life or stressed?

Ok, if horse was spending most of his time charging around like a complete loon, jumping at the slightest thing, becoming so stupid that he has to be led in a chifney, is he enjoying life, or do you think he is stressed?

when you bring him in he just nods, box walks and asks to go out again, when he is in the field he does look pleased to be out, but wont settle and eat.

(he is quite a stessy horse anyway so it is hard to tell)

Opinions please!

Hmm, tricky with out knowing horsey.... K was like this a couple of weeks ago, he was a nightmare and actualy scared me, but has since chilled out again.
I put it down to him being too well, too fit and too much food with all the mares in season and spring grass.
He had 10days off, food has been cut right down etc and today he was like a snail- so I'm thinking of putting him back on oats

Although, I don't know what happens at the yard when I'm not there.... so maybe it was stress

Well at first I thought he was just feeling well having been put on the bute, but now I am not so sure, he is usually very conscious of stepping on/trampling me, but lately he doesnt care where he goes, even if he flattens me in the process

I dont know, he is so hard to read, just want him to enjoy his last few weeks not spend them stressing
 
Well if it was Chex I would think he was stressed, but thats because he's so chilled normally. When he's full of life he's cheeky and gallops about, and can get too full of himself, but not box walking etc, and he's never off him food unless he's seriously worried

oooooh , it's awful when you don't know whats going on, I really feel for you.
I took a belt and bracers approach, and put K on a calmer- NAF magic?- and cut out all feed except his topspec balancer.
I couldn't lead him, had to use a pressure halter and lunge line, and daren't take my hat off at all, as he kept rearing up at me. He also bit and kicked out at me, I couldn't even stroke him; it was heart breaking, I felt like I had lost my lovely horse.
I haven't been up to date with whats going on with you, but it's not to do with the new ponies is it?

nope, new pony is still in isolation, wont be going out with hector ever, Think H would actually kill him

He was on his own, as didnt want to risk turning him out with Jerry in the big field as he had laminitus last year, but have now put Jerry in the little field with him to see if he can calm him down
 
I missed why he is on bute, but could that be something to do with it? Might it be an effect of the bute? One of ours has had tummy problems if she has had too much, admittedly it tends to make her lethargic rather than hyper.
 
Perhaps he's just having a phase, to do with grass/weather etc? Cat sometimes had a phase of being a complete idiot to handle, then it would blow over. Like a kind of gelding attack of pmt.

Not much help, but if it's come on for no reason, it will possibly go away again for no reason? There's no logic to horses.
 
Apart from the not eating, sounds like my horse most of the time.
You know him best, what does your gut feeling tell you?
