I am off to do Prelim dressage on Saturday and there are 2 classes that have affliated and unaffiated sections, I have entered the unaff but there are still places in the aff and thought I might do that instead but when I look at the BD website it all looks a bit confusing!!
Can any one help!

Thanks

It seems a bit odd. Before I was affiliated I entered some BD prelims but they never had affiliated or unaffiliated - it was all affiliated but non BD members had to enter as an open rider.

Some venues allow both affiliated and unaffiliated in the same class, you get placed according to which one you have entered. You won't get points if you entered the unaffiliated section. It's a good way of testing yourself against those who have bitten the bullet and affiliated.

Surely you dont get points at prelim anyway?

Interesting though - I suppose it gets the entries up so it makes it more worthwhile for the organiser and it is a safe way to compare yourself
